Robot Mowers Are JC Golf’s Newest Game-Changer

Autonomous mowers are making a big impact on JC Golf’s Southern California courses. Since 2025, agronomy operations introduced the Kress 237 Mega Mission autonomous mower at several locations including Encinitas Ranch Golf Course, The Crossings at Carlsbad, Oaks North Golf Course, Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course, Twin Oaks Golf Course, and Los Serranos Golf Club.

As JC Golf commits to innovation, sustainability, and exceptional course conditions, the mowers' autonomous technology helps to improve both maintenance efficiency and enhance the golfer experience. On a daily basis, mowing schedules are adapted based on course size, weather, and turf conditions, ensuring consistency across the facility. By automating routine mowing tasks, agronomy teams can then dedicate more time and resources to course presentation, turf health, and long-term course improvements.

"The turf quality is much improved and will continue to improve," said Chris Hayman, Golf Course Superintendent at The Crossings at Carlsbad. "More frequent cutting with less compaction makes for a healthier plant that resists disease and outcompetes weeds."

Looking ahead, JC Golf plans to continue expanding the use of autonomous mowing technology across its portfolio of managed courses.
