What JC Golf is Doing in Response to Bots and Backdoor Brokering of Tee Times in Southern California

What JC Golf is Doing in Response to Bots and Backdoor Brokering of Tee Times in Southern California

  1. Enhanced Digital Security: Working with our tee sheet provider to employ security measures including reCAPTCHA on all online tee sheets.
  2. Terms of Use: Website access including third party content clearly prohibits commercial resale of public tee times.
  3. Strict Booking Policies: Reduced booking windows are set to narrow a broker's operating range.
  4. Enforce Strict Cancellation Policy: Tracking repeat cancellations that indicate organized brokering activity and prohibit last-minute reservation cancellations that violate the terms and conditions.
  5. On-site Enforcement: Requiring ID at check-in for the person who made the booking.
  6. Policy Alignment: Coordinating policies across multiple city courses or regional systems so brokers cannot simply migrate from one facility to another when rules tighten.
  7. Assembly Bill (AB) 1954: Support for the bill to provide California’s cities, counties, charter cities, and state with a tool in the form of a civil remedy to initiate volition and restrain 3rd party brokering that is not performed by consent (written agreement) of the parties.
