Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills

CHINO HILLS, CA (January 26, 2018) – Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills, California has selected JC Golf, a San Diego-based golf course management and operating company, for a three-year agreement, and has hired Brian Miano as the new General Manager.  After serving Los Serranos with great distinction, success, and pride for nearly 57 years, Kevin Sullivan stepped down as General Manager at the end of 2017.

“The talented and dedicated staff here at Los Serranos Golf Club are excited to partner with the team of experts at JC Golf,” said Brian Miano, General Manager.  “I was recently awarded the position of General Manager at Los Serranos and couldn’t be more enthusiastic about joining the team. I was introduced to the game of golf at Los Serranos when I was seven years old and am now honored to be part of the wonderful history and tradition of this great property.”

Established in April 1925, the Los Serranos Golf Club is one of the oldest courses in California and rich with history. The club’s legacy is attributed to World Tennis Champion, Jack Kramer.  Established as the world’s number one player for many years, Mr. Kramer finished his career with 10 Grand Slam Titles and 35 career titles overall, including the Grand Slam Singles title at Wimbledon in 1947 and the US Open in 1946 and 1947.  A member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Mr. Kramer helped found the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and was its first Executive Director.

In 1953, Tennis Champion Jack Kramer, Los Angeles businessman Bill Cranston, and Montebello Golf Professional Zell Eaton reopened the golf course and commenced major improvements.  Jack Kramer became the sole owner in 1961, and together with Kevin Sullivan, designed and built the South Course in 1963.

Los Serranos features two eighteen hole golf courses, set amidst 300 lush acres on the historic Don Lugo Spanish Land Grant.  The 6,691-yard North Course was designed with all skill levels in mind and features Scotland style bunkers on the sixteenth hole. The South Course opened in 1964 and is one of California’s longest golf course at 7,587 yards when played from the famous Jack’s Black Tees. Framed in by a lake, the South Course finishes with the longest, signature hole at 673 yards.

For over twenty years, qualifying for the California State Amateur Championship was held at the South Course as well as the Los Angeles Open, now the Genesis Open. Since 1996, sectional qualifiers for the United States Amateur Public Links Championship have been played on both courses. The California State Open was held at the club in 1983 and the Southern California Open in 1999.

“We’re excited for this new partnership because the Kramer Family, Los Serranos, and JC Golf share many of the same core values.  Both JC Resorts and Los Serranos are family-owned and strive to create truly memorable guest experiences,” said Bob Kramer, President and Chairman of Los Serranos.

JC Resorts manages high-end golf courses and properties from San Diego to Temecula to Chino Hills, including the much awarded Rancho Bernardo Inn and Golf Course, Surf and Sand Resort Laguna Beach, and Temecula Creek Inn and Golf Course.
